Today in Times Square - In partnership with the Scent Marketing Institute and Scent World Expo, the Whiff Guys put the Whiff Girls to work on a four-day promotion to leverage the Up Front Media Event - where thousands of advertisers and Fortune 500 buyers converge each year for a preview of the fall line-up of the coming television network shows.
Accompanied by their hunky chaperones, the Whiffy troupe of hot models marched into Times Square armed with balloons, the scent of chocolate, clever branding messages, post card promos, and music to invade the the the hordes of advertising executives as they attend big events put on by NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and the other networks. The chocolate-scented models are promoting Scent World Expo as well as the Whiff Book, handing out promo gifts and collateral, and inviting ad execs to buy Whiff! and to attend the Scent World Expo at the Mariott Marquis New York on June 29 thru July 2. Wearing t-shirts with the first message of “What’s That Smell?”, they kick off a quirky progressive branding effort over the next four days. Video of the chocolate-scented honeys will be posted in the coming week.
Presenters and attendees will include Researchers, Developers, Technology and Scent Branding Experts, with presentations of scent suppliers from print, packaging, consumer product and environmental - POP, Video Gaming, Scent ROI Software, Scented Digital Signage, and more…

Agreement Covers U.S. Distribution of Treatise On“The Revolution of Scent Communication in the Information Age.”

Quimby Press announced an agreement with Midpoint Trade Books, Inc., providing for U.S. distribution of Quimby’s new non-fiction title Whiff! The Revolution of Scent Communication in the Information Age. New York-based Midpoint, a major distributor for independent publishers, serves conventional and online retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Ingram, Hudson News, Walden Books, and others.
“I’m very pleased at what this agreement means for Whiff! and for the opportunity to share our research and insight on scent communication,” said its lead author C. Russell Brumfield. “I’m grateful to Midpoint for taking on the title.”
Whiff! is slated for hard cover release on June 20. The book and its authors will be featured later this month at the Scent World Expo in New York, the first global conference on the use of scent for marketing and branding. The conference (www.scentworldexpo.com) runs from June 29th through July 1st at the New York Marriott Marquis, and Brumfield will deliver the keynote address.
A spokesperson for Quimby said the agreement with Midpoint covers only English language publication and that translations are in progress. Additional marketing plans for Whiff! include the recently launched website www.whiffbook.com; a blog; and teleseminar series at www.askthewhiffguys.com; speaking engagements; and a nine country book tour covering 18 cities. Whiff is expected to reach retail stores in September.
